Additional Information
The Lake Country HDO Orange Polishing Pad with CCS makes it easier to remove heavy imperfections. Pair it with your favorite compound or polish and remove medium to heavy imperfections not only easier and quicker, but much safer.
The pads in our HDO (Heavy Duty Orbital) line are perfectly balanced, cushioned, and feature thinner foam than the traditional foam pad. The thinner foam reduces foam movement which will reduce heat (10% cooler) which can cause hazing and micro-marring while polishing. These pads have a 70 degree beveled, angled edge. This design prevents pad “rolling”, allowing the pad to stay flat on the surface. The open cell cooling chamber in the center of the pad is another great feature that helps keep the pad running at cooler temps, which increases durability and results in better polishing for the end user.
Traditional foam pads are lower-performing, due to polishes getting trapped below the face of the pad, causing the pad cells to clog. The CCS (Collapsed Cell Structure) Technology solves this problem with partially closed foam cells or “dimples” on the face of the pad. These “dimples” capture and gradually release polish as needed during the polishing process. This feature tends to reduce surface tension, pad skipping, and heat generation with less surface area on the face of the pad being in contact with the painted surface. Less surface area means less friction, which in turn increases polishing performance!
Frequently Asked Questions
Lake Country pads use engineered CCS (Compressed Convoluted Surface) technology that creates consistent surface contact while reducing heat buildup. This design prevents pad glazing and maintains cutting ability throughout the polishing process. The HDO (Heavy Duty Orbital) construction provides superior durability compared to standard foam pads, making them ideal for professional paint correction work.
Lake Country HDO pads offer superior heat dissipation and longer pad life than many competitors. The CCS surface design maintains consistent contact pressure, reducing the risk of burning through clear coat. These polishing pads also resist tearing and maintain their shape better during extended use, making them a cost-effective choice for frequent detailing work.
For heavy scratches and paint defects, start with the orange or yellow Lake Country CCS pads, which offer the most aggressive cutting action. Follow with blue pads for intermediate polishing, then finish with black or red pads for final glossing. This stepped approach using different pad densities ensures effective scratch removal without creating new marring.
Lake Country CCS HDO polishing pads typically last 10-15 cars when properly maintained and cleaned between uses. Heavy correction work may reduce pad life, while lighter polishing extends it. Regular cleaning with pad cleaning solutions and proper storage helps maximize durability. Professional detailers often get months of use from each pad with proper care.
Yes, Lake Country foam pads are safe for both clear coat and single-stage paint when used with appropriate compounds and polishes. The CCS surface design distributes pressure evenly, reducing the risk of burning through thin clear coat. Always test on a small area first and use the least aggressive pad that achieves your desired results.
Lake Country polishing pads deliver showroom-quality finishes when used in the correct sequence. Orange pads remove heavy defects, blue pads eliminate haze and light scratches, while black pads create deep gloss and clarity. The HDO construction maintains consistent performance throughout the correction process, ensuring uniform results across the entire paint surface.
Lake Country HDO polishing pads work well on headlights and hard plastic trim when paired with appropriate compounds. Use finer pads like blue or black for delicate surfaces to avoid damage. The controlled heat generation of CCS pads makes them safer for plastic materials than aggressive cutting pads. Always test on an inconspicuous area first.
Clean Lake Country orange pads immediately after use with pad cleaning solution or compressed air to remove compound buildup. Store pads flat in a clean, dry area away from direct sunlight. Rotate between multiple pads during long correction sessions to prevent overheating. Proper maintenance keeps the CCS surface texture intact and maintains cutting efficiency.
